The Therapeutic Effect of Praziquantel on Clonorchiasis with T-tube Choledochotomy

Abstract
This paper present the results of the effect of Praziquantel on clonorchiasis. Praziquantel is a new drug known as a safe, excellent tolerance, short term therapeutic agent and broad spectrum antischistosomal and anticestode agent.
From Jan. 1981 to Oct. 1982, authors had experienced 6 cases of clonorchiasis with T-tube choledochotomy who were operated for hepatobiliary disorders. Clonorchiasis was diagnosed on pre-, intra- and postoperatively by skin test and direct identification of the adult worms in the biliary ducts. Authors administered Praziquantel to those patients in 50~120 mg/kg for 1~2 days(2~6 times) postoperatively. And then, beginning about hours later, 3 to 600 of Clonorchis sinenses were drained through the T-tube in death status. The pharmacological side effects were not significant. Through this our clinical research authors would suggest that Praziquantel may be one of the most excellent antischistosomal agent with little side effects.
